Guayaquil, Ecuador

Well, I'm here. I can't say as I'm a big fan of this city so far... maybe it's just cause I'm here alone, or maybe cause there seem to be NO other tourists, or maybe cause I'm ready to just be at my post in the jungle after all this traveling... not sure. I arrived yesterday afternoon and spent the following hours walking around, exploring the riverfront boardwalk, and searching for a new camera battery. Now, if you've been following, you know that I've had one camera stolen and I'm now on my second here in SA... the peruvian made battery charger that I had bought broke in Cusco, so while I was attempting to use that broken charger in a outlet in the lobby of the hotel (cause the room didn't have one), somehow at my 5am departure I FORGOT IT! WHAT? I know, how stupid! Now, a memory card can be found anywhere... Sony batteries can be found at just about every electronics shop, BUT, a Nikon lithum battery??? I've been told they don't exist here in Ecuador! Are you stinking kidding me? My black cloud of car and cell phone drama has now officially made its way to my cameras. Cause it looks like I might be on to camera number three for this adventure.
People say that pictures are priceless... are we sure about that? They're getting pretty pricey! :) Oh well, the life of an adventurer (and a forgetful one at that)!
Until soon,
Kate
