So... yesterday wasn't a great day at work. I had some disagreements with the management and it was extremely frustrating. Then, the internet wasn't working, so I could not Skype anyone for the holiday or anything! However, I decided there was no point in sitting at home and moping, and I had long thought we have the perfect porch for a get-together, SO...
I bought some drinks, a few snacks, and started sending text messages! As there is not much to do on a Monday night in Sanniquellie the turnout was great and it was fun talking about the U.S., our joint histories, etc. Even Timo, the German guy who works for another NGO came out with a few people from his work... we ended up having a great evening!
Maybe there were no fireworks, hotdogs, or bud light... BUT there was friendship, fun, and celebration of MY independence day!
Liberia's independence day is July 26th, and I'm anxious to celebrate Liberian style!
