Liberia's presidential elections will be taking place Oct. 11th with the possibility (at this point probability) of a run off on Nov. 8th. There are 16 different parties each with their own candidate running. The current president is a 72 year old woman. Remember the recent post-election chaos of their neighbor Ivory Coast. If you don't know much about Liberian history or politics, I find it fascinating and you might too... look it up if you get a few minutes!
This is something near and dear to my heart, especially now that I've spent time there and have made several good friends. The UN peacekeeping forces are still in place in Liberia, but the 14 year civil war seems all too fresh when it comes to times of political change/upheaval.
