The last three days have been a whirlwind to the Sahara and back... here it is in pictures!
We found the lamb-by-the-kilo stalls in Jamaa El Fna, Marrakech! Delicious!
The ceilings at the Dar Si Saad Palace in Marrakech... Whoa!
Me in awe of the gorgeous ceilings... yep, on the floor!
Britt and Pete... trying to figure out where we're going on the map
Britt teaching me to pour mint tea the Moroccan way - higher, higher!
On the way to the desert... the oldest Kasbah in Morocco. Many movies are claimed to have been shot here - we're a bit skeptical, but scampering around the maze of a small city was FUN!
Britt and I "flying" like we did in Peru...
Three long faces as we learned that the road was flooded... that's right, they haven't seen rain in months and then we try to go the stinkin' Sahara desert and it rains enough to flood the road!
After an hour and a half of waiting, we went for it...
Britt praying "inchallah" that we make it to the other side safely!
Jessi was right, getting on was the scariest part! Pete did NOT fall off, though this picture looks a tad precarious!
Follow the leader... Peek a boo Brit!
Camels in the Sahara at sunset... cool? Right?!
My camel, Jimmy!!! And our guide Omar...
Attempting to learn the Moroccan drums... not so successful...
After a night sleeping under the Berber tents and Sahara stars... it was back on the camel for sunrise... and yes we are sore. Camels are just as uncomfortable as you might think.
A beautiful gorge and valley on the way home.
Women washing clothes in the river...
We're all dressed as Berber brides at Fatima's house safely back in Amizmiz!
Whew! Morocco is beautiful and hard and full of kind people and strange people and good places and unimpressive places... so, I guess it's like everywhere else in the world in some ways... but yet totally unique in its own right.
