I finally got to my hostel tonight (lost two and half hours by the way) around 7pm and was immediately greeted when I walked into my dorm by a wonderful character. His name is Andy and he's from London. It's about 45 degrees or so and he's walking around in shorts, thongs (flip flops), a jumper (hoodie), and a very bright hilarious rainbow colored beanie (stocking cap). Whew, I'm working on my Australian/New Zealand lingo, but all these different names for things... wow! He cheerfully said "Hello, how's it going?" as soon as I polked my head into the room... and proceeded to show and tell me the best things to go and do/see in New Zealand! Then I invited him to give a little tour of Auckland to myself and my new friend from the bus... he did! He told us what he knew, showed us a few key landmarks, and took us to a great hamburger place for dinner, just what I needed! After two airplane meals today I just couldn't face "cup o noodles" again! :)
Thanks Marcus from Brazil and Andy from England for a great wander around town tonight and good convos at dinner!
Tomorrow it's off to explore Auckland and decide my plan of action from here on out! Oh, I didn't even mention my hostel is right smack in the middle of everything on the main street, it has a huge internet/skpe/printing and scanning center (everything I need), a huge kitchen, two giant TV theater rooms, etc. It's a little big for my liking, but pretty nice and I really can't complain having everything right at my doorstep.
Watch out Kiwis, I'm here and ready for adventure!
Kate
