First things first, I finally got the comments to post with the pics from the previous post, so I know some of you were looking for some further info, it's now there...
Second... I lost my camera. Yep, totally my fault and totally stupid... left it in a taxi. How dumb! Not a big deal, cause they have a radio shack here and I'm going to buy a new one tomorrow, but all of that to say that life here is chaotic and somehow things are always getting lost, borrowed, stolen, etc. It's CRAZY! And to say that I now, once again, regret to tell you that I have lost a great deal of pics that I would have loved to have shown all of you... for example from the bull fight and from my school's anniversary with my kids in all the traditional costumes and dances etc. SUCKY! But, what can you do, but move on and try to replicate some of the great pics you lost? (I mean after calling about 10 people, talking to three people in the taxi company, tearing apart my apartment and my friend's house, and finally accepting that I just left it in the seat of the taxi...) :)
So, the wow, is that I have a wonderful little break this week... the institute gives everyone a three day mini vacation at the end of the months and that means tomorrow through the weekend I get to play tourist! woo hoo! I'm going to visit all the little sites in and around Arequipa that I have yet had the chance to.... plus I get to prepare my Halloween costume! Any ideas? Aracely and I are going looking tomorrow for ideas, but I welcome any suggestions!
Luis is taking me to a big concert and then an after party - I hear Halloween is quite the spectacle among young adults here, so I'm excited to see what it's all about in Peru! Oh, and I found out that it's also the day of celebrating one of the old spanish/black music and dances (day of creola music or something), so I'm hoping to see a little of that side of the holiday as well.
On another note, I had to fail a student at the institute today and she cried. It was horrible.
On yet another note, I can't wait to visit the famous convent that's here in Arequipa tomorrow.
Love y'all. Hasta Pronto!
Kate
