So some of you may remember that I mentioned that the 26th of July was independence day in Liberia. I was fortunate enough to spend the day out in two different border communities. It was a great day full of music, dancing, everyone wearing their best new clothes and hairstyles, gift giving (live chickens, goats, money), eating, and of course drinking (palm wine, cane juice etc.)! I realized I never had a chance to write about the day, and now I don't have the energy to fully recollect, however I still did want to share some of my favorite pictures from the day!
Plus here are a bunch of pics from the workshop the following three days...
Unfortunately I haven't gotten out and about to see much of Abidjan so far, but it has been really good having fast internet and the ability to feel like I can finally catch up with everyone, answer emails, and finish some documents for the Liberia office, etc. Especially since I think I'll be mostly out of touch for the next two weeks or so!
Blessings! Kate
