Bolivian Movie

So, many times when I introduce myself to young people here, they have said, "Oh, Kate? Like Kate de Castillo?" Now, I had no idea to what they were referring until last night when I finally got to watch a movie I had purchased from a sidewalk street vendor (no doubt pirated... as that's all you can find here). It's a Bolivian made movie entitled "American Visa." There are some parts that aren't so great, as Kate de Castillo works at a table dancing night club in La Paz (what exactly were they referring to when comparing me to her? hmmmm? let's assume it was just the name)! BUT, overall it is a pretty good flick with a great representation of many aspects of modern day life here in Bolivia and the huge struggle that is obtaining a US Visa for many South Americans. Everything from mines here in Potosí, to street vendors and markets in La Paz, to tons of smoking and drinking, to cold showers, etc. is depicted in this film... check it out if you have the time!
More soon, Kate

  1. She's a Mexican actress who has appeared in many soap operas :) Also, she's now married to a BEAUTIFUL Mexican actor but was previously married to a Mexican soccer player who was very well-known in the late 90s, early 2000s. She appeared in one of Ricky Martin's video "Fuego de Noche, Nieve de Dia", you could youtube it.
Why are they teaching you about Mexican actresses and not me? Boooo!!! ;)

  3. Heard that there was a big mine field catastrophe in Columbia. My flowers are blooming on the patio, got a Hisbucuis. Becky keeps them watered. Getting anxious and counting down to you coming home. Jess just called us of news from your mom and dad. Have you been able to see any of the soccer games going on. Ben is coming this weekend. Looking forward to our reunion. Send you a big ol hug! We are hearing thunder here.
