FINALLY! I know there have been requests, but just now I have pictures, a computer that will upload them AND internet time to get some up!

The walk/hike up to the top of the mountain in the middle of the night. The lights of Potosì below. The picture doesn't do it justice!

The Andean or Inca flag... represents their calendar, religion, and so much more... traditionally dressed folks below the flag.

Yeah, like I said... pretty darn amazing. Here are the first rays of the sun of the Andean New Year.

Their faith/belief is SO strong. People on the cliff above...

I wasn't kidding when I said there were like 300 people... spending the night on a freakin mountain in the freezing cold to keep this tradition!

No words.

San Juan celebration with Pedro's family. Bonfire, fireworks, hotdogs... you name it, we did it... on the coldest night of the year mind you!

My friend, Rolo, teaches at a school for the deaf in the mornings... he invited me to come visit and to teach a little bit of English. It was a great day! This is the sign for "I love you!"

The "field trip" with my class to the mine. Visiting "Tio" and discussing the story behind him... in ENGLISH! :)
Gotta run to class! Much love!
Kate

  2. I KNEW you would come to like jerky - you said, the fist 19 times you didn't like it, but it was the llama jerky that finally worked for you, wasn't it? I'll have the smoker and some rabbit jerky waiting for you when you get home. Love ya,

  3. Your Dad -- what a joker he is!! Kate, your adventures are a delight to read each time. How wonderful to have so many memories in your life (I've got a couple of memories myself if I could just rememorize them.) I'm with Audrey about watching out for the corrupt PoPo. Take care, love you, and prayers to you.
