So not only was yesterday Corpus Cristi day (a national holiday), but it was also my friend's (the woman who lives next door to me) birthday, the last local professional soccer game of the season, and today is Teacher's Day. WHAT? Yeah, I would say I guess I picked a good time of year to come to PotosÃ, except I'm fairly certain it's like this all year round.
They work hard and they party hard... that's definitely the lifestyle here. What can I say? I've adapted! :) Here's my daily schedule: 10am-12 class number one at the institute, 1pm lunch with the family next door, 2:30-3:30 class with spoiled 13 year old son of the family next door, 4:30-6:30 class number two at the institute, 8-10 class number three for any interested parties. In between those times I write worksheets, quizes, etc. , catch up on the internet, do some needed shopping, run to eat dinner at the cafe associated with the travel agency, or read a book/take a nap! After 10pm I find myself either in bed, meeting friends, or at a bar celebrating something or another!
Yesterday I got to experience a great one-day market with all the traditional foods etc. of the Corpus Cristi holiday... TONS of fruit and peanuts... still haven't figured out the reason they eat those foods on this day, but they sure do! Let's not mention the cow's blood stew (literally congealed and sautèd cow's blood, sometimes made with llama's blood or a mixture of the two as as I understand it, with potatoes and a bit of spice) that I tried... not so bad... my friend Pedro wouldn't eat it, but I finished the whole plate much to his surprise! I also got to go to my first South American professional soccer game and it was cold but tons of fun... even though it ended in a tie and my friends were more than a little agitated... for me it was all it good fun! As I mentioned yesterday was also the birthday of my friend, Anel, I got to join her entire family for the celebration and great food... get this, the chicken was cooked in a solar "oven" outside... pretty impressive! It was a huge day long party with music, food, dancing, and drinking! I had to skip out to go to my class, but it was great to be included!
I'm excited about this weekend, I will finally be visiting the much talked about hot springs and thermal baths tomorrow, hopefully finally replacing my camera, and I think I even have an invite to go out dancing! Should be fun.
Have a great weekend everyone and congrats to all my fellow teachers who finished the school year this week! CONGRATULATIONS and RELAX!

I am afraid you will fine life rather dull when you return. They play hard and party hard where you are, not so much here. Glad you are having such a good time. I have made a simple solar oven with my students. If you know what you are doing, the really work very well. You said it was cold there. I assume it is their version of winter now. Blessings for a continued good time. Audrey
