Small World...

It's crazy how small our world is... ok, I realize I'm saying that while I'm almost 6,000 miles from my bed, but still I find it to be true!  I just got an email yesterday from one of my TCU buddies, Lanni, that after some world travel she and her husband will most likely be settling in Washington D.C. this fall!  So exciting to think of having an old friend, and one with some Texas blood in her, so close by!  And then... I get an instant message from Wendy (the girl who continued teaching after I left in Bolivia) saying that she and her boyfriend had both gotten jobs in Fort Worth!  They had moved there and are still adjusting... so I jumped into "RA" mode of course told her all my old spots as well as sent some introduction emails to some great people who still live there!  I hope it helps.  Great people deserve great friends!

Then, there's the fact that I met a second year student in my program last spring who asked me about my Kapawi t-shirt (from the eco-lodge where I taught last year in Ecuador)... her boyfriend was one of the other handful of people who had volunteered there!  Go figure!  Got to meet him and chat all about the Achuar and life in the Amazon!

I haven't met anyone I know here yet or anything, but golly!  At this point I wouldn't be surprised if I did!

Just goes to show we're all connected in one way or another!

  1. I hope DC works out as well! I would love to have my friend Kate in the same city, shoot, if we could just stay in the same country that would be nice :) Thanks for all your help! Matthew & I are headed to Fort Worth tonight to hang out with some friends. If you want to send me your friend's email address, I'd be happy to invite them to come out with us! Have a super great weekend Kate!
