Eating "Roo"

Well, I tried it. Kangaroo that is...
So they say if you don't eat it next to rare then it gets pretty tough. Tough as in can't cut or chew it I found out tonight! The parts that were edible tasted kinda like venison... overall it was alright but nothing to write home about (yet here I am writing about it... the irony's not lost on me)! But, I got the real Top End experience sitting out on the jetty at the Wharf Precinct watching the boats and the sunset while eating my cute little animal.
It turns out Darwin was named by a military officer who was one of the first to settle this Port and Charles Darwin was a good friend of his... that's it... it became know as Port Darwin and then shortened just to Darwin. They have these funny T-shirts showing man evolving from an Ape and then de-volving back down to looking like a monkey at a computer and they say "Something went terribly wrong here" Funny.
The Darwin sun is DIFFERENT - I laid out and played in the ocean lagoon for just about three hours today - it was glorious and fun, but turns out it was probably about an hour too long. oops!
I met some really nice guys today while swimming around in the recreational lagoon (not the ridiculous tidal wave pool across the park), we talked for a few minutes and they were pretty funny and VERY sunburned so I made fun of them a lot. Then I went and laid back on the beach and about 30 min. later when they were leaving, one of them came up and handed me his business card with his mobile number and said "just in case you get bored or wanna hang out and get some drinks with some crazy Aussies." I just said "ok, thanks a lot... nice to meet you..." and while he was walking away glanced down at the card that said "AFP" Australian Federal Police , Matthew Reid, Constable. WHAT? I was joking around with these three FEDERAL POLICE OFFICERS! HAHA! Weird!
Tomorrow it's time to go to the much anticipated Litchfield National Park - it's supposed to be beautiful with lots of waterfalls and swimming holes. Hope all is well with y'all - miss you!
